Why Is Youth Group
IMPORTANT?
Teenagers need models and mentors.
It's About Community!

Of course, you as a parent are called to be the primary spiritual mentor of your own teenager, but he/she also needs other godly adults! It’s important for your son or daughter to see that this whole “Christianity thing” is more than just mom’s and dad’s belief system. They need to have models and mentors who reinforce all the spiritual truth they’re learning from you.

Psalm 71:17-18

“O God, You have taught me from my youth, And I still declare Your wondrous deeds. And even when I am old and gray, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to all who are to come.“

Why Is Youth Group
IMPORTANT?
Teenagers need MISSION.

When Jesus challenged his most-likely teenage disciples to “go and make disciples of all nations,” he was tapping into the activist wiring of these young men. In the same way, your teenager needs to be challenged with the mission to reach their peers with the good news of Jesus in a loving and contagious way.

Why is youth group important? Because youth group is also a place where teenagers can discover their spiritual gifting and begin to use it to serve others. This will help them have a heart to selflessly serve others for the rest of their lives!

Discipleship

By joining a youth ministry, the leaders and mentors work together to build discipleship. Through participation in worship, reading and studying the Bible, and outside mission work, young people will develop a sense of pride. Knowing God and committing themselves to service will inevitably bear good fruit.

Teenagers need COMMUNITY!
It's Tough To Be A Teenager Today!

In an age of bullying, gossip, slander, and hatefulness (which can destroy a teenager’s self-identity), young people need other young people who can lift them up, encourage them, and challenge them in all the right ways.

Why is youth group important? Because youth group is also a place where teenagers can discover their spiritual gifting and begin to use it to serve others. This will help them have a heart to selflessly serve others for the rest of their lives!

Hebrews 10:24-25

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Ignite Youth

Ignite Youth Collective is a gathering of 6th-12th grade students at Bethlehem Baptist Church. We exist to know God and to make Him known. We do this through studying God’s Word, gathering in community with His people and then going out as lights into a dark world. We would love for your student to join us for our next gathering.

The purpose of Ignite Youth Ministries is to:

  • Introduce students to Jesus Christ and to build upon that foundation by providing a safe place where youth can be taught and given support in their walk with Christ. (Matthew 28:19-20)
  • Build a unified and open community of student believers who are an example to the community and serve the Lord in worship, ministry, discipleship and missions work. (I Timothy 4:12)
  • Minister to and support the parents of our students. Parental involvement is a welcomed.

The vision for Ignite is to launch spirit led, gospel fluent young adults who can lead themselves daily, feed themselves biblically , and multiply themselves spiritually for the next season of life.

Hey! We Can’t Wait To See You!
