Director of Childcare Ministries
Job Description

Objectives :
Coordinate and implement relevant, Christian based programs for all weekday childcare ministries within the context of the mission set by the church leadership and in response to progress and innovation in childhood development.
To minister to families by caring for their children in a safe environment and meeting/exceeding all safety standards according to local, state and federal policies.
The Preschool Ministry Director will lead leaders and must be highly relational. The director will need to have a strong team mentality while leading staff and volunteer teams to provide spiritual development of both children and parents through regular, ongoing programming, and special services/events.
This program shall emphasize the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of each child, and shall be consistent with and supportive of the purposes and policies of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Appropriate professional relationships with NC Division of Child Development and Early Education and other applicable North Carolina and Alexander County agencies, as well as with the parent(s)/guardian(s) and family members of BBC enrolled students will be maintained.
To coordinate, budget, and manage the daily successful operation of the Bethlehem Baptist Church Child Care
The Preschool/Daycare is an extension of the Church’s outreach with children and their families and should be run consistent with the values and beliefs of the church.
Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age
Must be a born again baptized believer, committed Christian, who is growing in Christ, in the Word, and in prayer.
Must have a strong Christian faith and desire to create synergies between the church congregation and the preschool.
Must be respectful toward the pastor, staff, and church members, a strong work ethic and genuine love for children.
Knowledgeable concerning relevant legal and governmental guidelines, regulations, laws and ethical issues regarding daycare licensing and employment policies/regulations.
Manage daily operations of the Preschool in compliance with all NC health, safety, sanitation, and licensing regulations
Employment subject to a successful background and fingerprint check
Represents the Preschool and Bethlehem Baptist Church well to staff, our team leaders, parents, and the church.
Must be CPR/First Aid and SIDS certified
Ability to coordinate center functions
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to manage a budget and accurate financial record keeping/reconciliation
Strong organizational, communication, public relations, computer and interpersonal skill
Educational Requirements:
Must have or obtain the Level I North Carolina Early Childhood Administration Credential within 18 months of appointment as director.
*All administrators must have a high school diploma or its equivalent and one of the following:
two years of full-time verifiable work experience in a licensed childcare center or early childhood work experience; or
an undergraduate, graduate, or associate degree, with at least 12 semester hours in child development, child psychology, early childhood education or directly related field: or
a Child Development Associate Credential or completion of a community or technical college curriculum program in the area of childcare or early childhood; or
one year of full-time verifiable childcare or early childhood work experience and a North Carolina Early Childhood Credential (NCECC).
AND
Verification of having successfully completed, or be currently enrolled in, 2 semester credit hours, or 32 clock hours, of training in the area of early childhood program administration.
OR
Have one year experience performing administrative duties

Position Supervisor:
The BBC Daycare Director reports directly to the Personnel Committee and works in conjunction with the School Advisory Board Committee.
Expected Work Schedule
This is a salaried position with no overtime compensation provide- NCDHHS requires an administrator on-site on a regular basis
It is expected the Director will work a minimum of 5 days a week – Monday-Friday from 8 am until 5 pm daily. The only change should be if they are needed on premises for any childcare responsibilities before or after to provide adequate supervision and support for staff.
The director must post and maintain office hours, and this should be communicated with staff/parents weekly.
The director must be available to parents at least two (2) mornings a week during busy drop off times and at least one (1) afternoon a week during heavy pick-up times.
Management of Fiscal, Administrative, and Facilities Functions:
Develop a budget for the center and establish controls to assure that the center adheres to the budget. Present this budget annually to the School Advisory Board for input and revision as needed. Ensure that the daycare in net positive and adjust expenses or fees (with School Board input/approval) as needed to maintain fiscal health while keeping child safety at the forefront of budgetary decision making.
Collect & document fees and tuitions and maintain financial records in QuickBooks. Provide tuition receipts for families upon request.
Take measures to collect past due tuitions.
The director is responsible for obtaining and coordinating all supplies and necessities that are needed to run the childcare program as budgeted.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for the operation of the childcare center including updating the BBC Daycare Personnel Handbook annually to meet the latest guidelines and laws.
Assure consistent compliance with all NCDHHS Daycare Standards, including maintenance of annual fire, health and other inspections.
Coordinate the annual licensing of the childcare center with NCDHHS.
Maintain open communication between the preschool and parents via individual contact, REMIND and phone contact/message responses.
Serve as a resource person for the parents and plan for parent informational meetings, if necessary.
Work with the Director of Children’s Ministries to involve in concerns/support or potential church memberships.
Professional Growth and Development/Professionalism:
Attend professional development seminars to maintain an understanding of the current best practices of curriculum and administrative functions of child development programs.
Knowledge of the church’s purpose statement and facilitate the preschool’s role in helping to fulfill the church’s purpose and increase involvement in BBC Ministries.
Maintain all NCDHS standards as mandated by the state of North Carolina and policies adopted by the BBC School Advisory Board.
Support the professional growth and development of colleagues by sharing materials and information and providing helpful feedback and encouragement.
School or Community Relations:
Represent the center in a professional, courteous and positive manner always. Maintain confidentiality regarding staff, parents, and children.
Promote a positive, caring climate for learning for staff, students, and parents.
Communicate effectively with staff, students and their families.
